During the tense last over finish against Mumbai Indians on May 16, the owner of Lucknow Super Giants, Sanjiv Goenka was spotted on camera praying with a photo in hand. His prayers were answered as LSG went on to defeat MI by five runs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium to get a step closer to the playoffs spot in the Indian Premier League 2023.
Earlier, in their pursuit of the 178-run target set by LSG, the batting lineup of MI were at 167/5, needing 11 runs in the last over to seal a very important win. Krunal Pandya, the captain of Lucknow, gave the responsibility of bowling that over to Mohsin Khan. Under extreme pressure of defending ten runs, he conceded only three runs off the first five balls to Tim David and Cameron Green.
Before Mohsin Khan was about to bowl the final delivery to Tim David, the camera panned to Sanjiv Goenka, who held a photo in his hand and bowed down to it, to probably seek divine blessings for his team. Eventually, Lucknow did achieve victory against Mumbai as their premier left-arm fast bowler gave only a couple of runs off the last ball with seven runs to defend.

With this massive win, LSG moved to third place on the IPL points table with a league stage match remaining in the tournament. If the Super Giants are able to defeat the Knight Riders in Kolkata, then they will qualify through to the playoffs for the second time in two consecutive seasons of the Indian Premier League.
