Unlike many cricketers, Virat Kohli is not only a name associated with cricket in India but is famous across the globe known for his brilliant gestures, animated celebrations, and on-field power-hitting. The 34-year-old Indian batter smashed two IPL centuries this season and a few days after hitting his second hundred, Virat became the first Asian to reach the 250 million followers milestone on Instagram.

As soon as the Indian mainstay hit his second IPL century in the 2023 edition, there was no second thought that he will get more followers and fans. Despite hitting a century  in Sunday's game against GT , Virat Kohli's side failed to dismiss another centurion Shubman Gill, who ended RCB's hope to make the playoffs. However, three days later to his centurion knock, the RCB batter became the first cricketer in the world to reach the 250 million followers mark on Instagram.

However, he is definitely the first Indian cricketer to reach this feat, he is also the first cricketer as a whole to achieve this feat. Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list with 585 million followers, whereas Argentina great Lionel Messi sits second with 462 million followers.

Talking from Indian cricket, while Virat Kohli tops the list there, former India skipper and current CSK skipper MS Dhoni is second with 42.2 million followers, followed by the 'God of Cricket' Sachin Tendulkar having 40.3 million followers on Instagram.
