India pacer Akash Deep received a cricket bat from Virat Kohli ahead of the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh. Deep is part of India's 16 member squad for the first Test against their Asian rivals. On the other hand, Kohli will be playing his first competitive game after the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka early last month.
With only a few days left in the start of the India vs Bangladesh first Test, Akash Deep posted an Instagram story and let his fans know that the former India skipper gifted him a bat. Moreover, India are slated to play the first Test of the two-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19 onwards.
Akash Deep made his Test debut against England in February this year
The Bengal pacer made his Test debut for India against England in February this year. He played the fourth Test against the Three Lions in Ranchi in place of Jasprit Bumrah. He took the wickets of Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope in the first innings, and this is the only international match that he has played so far. India went on to win the match and the series 4-1.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what sort of combination India goes with in the first Test later this week. As far as Chepauk is concerned, the wicket has always been quite helpful for the spinners. The Men in Blue might play three spinners and two pacers in the bowling side of things. If the home team goes ahead with this combination, Akash Deep may not get to play as Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to play the first Test.
