Following a series draw in South Africa, former India captain and batting stalwart Virat Kohli gifted a signed jersey to Protean spinner Keshav Maharaj. Speaking of India’s tour of South Africa, while the T20I series ended in a draw, the visitors clinched the ODI series by a 2-1 margin and thereafter drew the two-match Test series.
After the conclusion of second Test in Cape Town, which the Men in Blue won by seven wickets, after Virat and Team India presented a signed jersey to retiring captain Dean Elgar, the former India skipper also gave one to Maharaj. The Protean spinner took to social media to share the picture, captioning, “One for the Wall, Thank you @virat.kohli.”
Speaking of the second Test, the Dean Elgar-led side opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, the Indian bowling attack ripped apart the Protean lineup, courtesy Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket haul. While the Men in Blue also could not post many runs on the board as they were reduced to 153/4 and the next 11 deliveries saw six more players heading back to the pavilion at the score of 153.
Later in the second inning, the hosts could only post 79 runs target on the board for the visitors, courtesy a century knock from Aiden Markram. With help of knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal (28) and Rohit Sharma (16*), India comfortably chased the total with seven wickets in hand in just 12 overs.
