Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener and cricket commentator, hailed Virat Kohli as the best player the world has ever seen on July 13, Friday. The 34-year-old has dominated the cricketing landscape as the batter for the better part of the last decade, scoring 75 centuries during his illustrious career.

During the day 2 lunchtime show on JioCinema for the first Test match between hosts West Indies and India, Aakash Chopra was talking about the impact of Virat Kohli on Indian and world cricket. He was quoted as saying, “Virat Kohli is the best player the world has ever seen.”

Notably, in the ongoing match of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, West Indies were bundled out for just 150 on day 1. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for Team India, finishing up with figures of 5/60. This was his 33rd five-wicket haul in the Test format, fifth against the hosts and fourth in the Caribbean.

In response, India were 146/0 at lunch on day 2, with the debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal bringing and the captain Rohit Sharma, both notching up fifties. Before going into the pavilion for the much-needed rest, Jaiswal was not out on 62, while Sharma was on 68. Waiting in the wings for India to bat in the middle order is Shubman Gill, who is slated to take the number three slot, followed by Virat Kohli in his all-too-familiar number four position.

Ishant Sharma credits the belief of Virat Kohli with his world domination

Ishant Sharma, the longtime friend, and teammate of Virat Kohli in the domestic and national teams, talked about the belief of the Indian cricketer, which helped him to become the top star in the sport for so many years. During the broadcast of day 2 of the first Test match between West Indies and India, Ishant Sharma said on JioCinema, “I think Virat Kohli’s belief to dominate the world has brought him where he is today.”
