Indian batting great Virat Kohli is set to leave the German sports brand, Puma, after his massive eight-year contract. After Puma, Kohli is slated to join Indian sporting goods manufacturer Agilitas. Kohli has evolved into one of the greatest cricketers in recent history, propelling him as a global brand.

Thanks to this worldwide popularity, Virat Kohli signed a long-term deal with Puma, beginning in 2017, worth ₹110 crores. But with one year remaining in his Puma contract, Kohli is set to join former managing director (MD) of Puma India Abhishek Ganguly's Agilitas. Ganguly previously worked with Virat Kohli during his time with the German sports goods brand.

Virat Kohli's new deal will include a brand ambassadorial role and a stake in the company, signalling a significant shift in his professional commitments. The CNBC TV18 report further claimed that this deal will create a significant change in the structuring of sports-marketing deals in India.

When Abhishek Ganguly worked with Virat Kohli under Puma, he credited the former Indian captain as a seminal figure in the fitness aspect of Indian cricket. "Virat has transformed the way fitness is looked at in Indian cricket. He has emphasized the role of an athlete and reshaped cricket in the millennial culture, thus endorsing our brand ethos. He is a youth icon with an effortless style," Ganguly said in 2017.
