India will take on Afghanistan in the first game of the three-match T20I series in Mohali on Jan uary 11 . While the first T20I will be played at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the second and third match will be played in Indore and Bengaluru respectively.

But after the Afghanistan side received a major blow with Ibrahim Zadran confirming Rashid Khan’s unavailability for the entire series, Head Coach Rahul Dravid on the eve of the opening T20I revealed that Virat Kohli will miss the first match due to personal reasons.

Moreover, the Indian Head Coach further addressed that skipper Rohit Sharma will open the innings along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Earlier there were reports that Kohli might open the innings alongside Rohit on their return in T20Is after a gap of one and a half year.

While it will be the first ever white-ball series between India and Afghanistan, it will also be India’s last T20I series ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in West Indies and the USA.
