The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 on Tuesday as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah, legendary batter Virender Sehwag, Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan and ICC CEO Geoff Allardice unveiled the schedule at the St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai. During the event, Sehwag claimed that India's victory in the quadrennial showpiece will be a tribute to veteran batter Virat Kohli.

During the ODI World Cup schedule announcement on Tuesday, Sehwag asserted that the Men in Blue will look to win the 2023 World Cup at home for their star batter Virat Kohli. He said, "I think the Indian team would want to win this World Cup for Virat Kohli."

Apart from this, Sehwag also claimed that Virat Kohli can break Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most centuries in the World Cup. Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar has scored six centuries in six ODI world cup editions while Virat Kohli, who will be playing his fourth ODI World Cup in 2023, has registered only two centuries till now. Sachin has the joint-most centuries in the world cup as he is tied with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on six centuries.
Team India will face Australia in their 2023 world cup opener at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on October 8 while the World Cup opener is scheduled to be played between England and New Zealand, recreating the 2019 WC Final fixture, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5.
