Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan was put under immense pressure after he was picked up for a massive price of INR 15.5 crore by the Mumbai Indians, making him the most expensive player in the 2022 Mega Auction. But, the youngster proved why he was the most expensive player in the auction. The southpaw scored a swashbuckling half-century in Mumbai Indian’s first match of the 2022 season against the Delhi Capitals. Kishan scored a 34 ball half-century with six fours and two sixes.

The 23-year-old from Patna opened the innings with his captain Rohit Sharma and had a splendid start to the innings. Both openers piled up 68 runs by eighth over where comeback kid Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Sharma for 41. Soon MI number three Anmolpreet Singh also fell at the score of eight. But Kishan held his end and continued to attack.

Soon he was batting with debutant Tilak Verma, who was also batting at an incredible click. The recent under-19 World Cup winner scored an express 15 ball 22 with 3 boundaries and a strike rate of 146.67.
