Indian team scripted history as they took down arch-rivals Pakistan in a thrilling win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Virat Kohli-led India fended away a horrid start and chased a tricky 160-run total to kick-start their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with a victory. Kohli scored a magical 82 as he took the Men in Blue over the finish line.

Just like Indian players gave their everything on the pitch, the Indian fans in the stadium were a constant support to their team throughout the topsy-turvy fixture. The crescendo of this fan support was seen when Indian supporters across the MCG came together and sang "Chak De India" after Ravichandran Ashwin hit winning runs on the last ball of the match. The video of the moment has since gone viral.

This victory was extremely important for the India team as they suffered their first defeat against Pakistan in a World Cup during last year’s tournament in the UAE. Reacting to the victory, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was at a loss for words as he was extremely overwhelmed after the win. He talked about how the magnitude of the fixture demanded a finish like this and praised Kohli and Hardik Pandya for their crucial 100+ run partnership.

He said, “I was in the dressing room. I don't have any words left. You got to expect something like this in a game like this. We wanted to stay in the game for as long as possible. That crucial partnership was a game-changing moment for us. The pitch had something in it. There was nice carry. Some swing and seam. Good to see from the bowling perspective.”
