The US Open 2023, which is the 143rd edition of the tennis tournament, has entered its Round of 16 stages with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Daniil Medvedev, and Ben Shelton already qualified for the quarter-finals stage. Alexander Zverev of Germany defeated World No. 6 Jannik Sinner to qualify for the last quarter-final berth.

While the 20-year-old Alcaraz defeated Italy's Matteo Arnaldi in straight sets by 6-3, 6-3, and 6-4, Serbian ace Djokovic also knocked out 2nd-placed Croatian star Borna Gojo in straight sets by 2-6, 5-7, and 4-6 to qualify for the quarter-finals.

On Tuesday morning, Zverev and Sinner went neck-and-neck to qualify for the US Open 2023 quarter-finals as the result was decided in the final set of the game. The German star kicked off the matchup with a 6-4 win only to lose the second game with a 3-6 score. Zverev came back with a dominating 6-2 victory in the third set as the Italian's 4-6 win in the fourth set forced the final set into the game.

During the hard-fought clash, spectators had a roller coaster experience, which was evident from their ecstatic reactions during the game. Among those spectators,  New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and American actress  Elizabeth Stamatina "Tina" Fey were in attendance and appeared to enjoy the game to the fullest with their startling reaction.

After levelling 2-2 in the first four sets, the 26-year-old German defeated Sinner 6-3 to end the Italian's US Open 2023 men's singles campaign. Zverev will now face World No. 1 and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-final on Wednesday, September 6.

The fourth and final grand slam event of the year witnessed a thrilling matchup between Zverev and Sinner on Tuesday morning. On the other hand, World No. 2 Djokovic will next face World No. 9 Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final on Tuesday night while Carlos Alcaraz will look to become the first player in 15 years to successfully defend his US Open title.
