The second match of the IPL 2024 saw Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings won the toss and invite the Delhi Capitals to put the score on the board first. However, the Australian pair of Mitchell Marsh and David Warner gave a brisk start to the Delhi-based franchise, but wickets at quick intervals helped Punjab to restrict the DC to 174 runs.
However, with quick fall of wickets and none of the batters breaching the 50-run mark, the Delhi Capitals opted to call in Abhishek Porel in place of Ricky Bhui, who departed after having scored three runs. G oing into the final over having scored seven runs, Porel unleashed his prowess off Harshal Patel, hitting 25 runs.
Patel, who was handed the ball to bowl the penultimate over of the DC inning, bowled a short at stumps. To which Porel sliced it across and pulled it over backward square leg for a boundary. On the next delivery, Porel heaved it high and wide of mid-wicket to cross the boundary with a maximum this time.
While Harshal Patel tried to change his stance and came from round the wicket to bowl the third delivery, Porel banged it down towards backward square leg for a four. He then followed the next delivery, stationing it over past third man for a boundary, followed by a maximum over leg to add 25 runs in the final over.

With 25 runs off the final over, Delhi Capitals finished having scored 174 runs on the board. While Shai Hope was the top-scorer for the side with his 33-run knock, Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel picked two wickets each.
