The car leaves behind the old red and white colour scheme and also has the Italian flag on the rear spoiler representing Alfa Romeo’s rich Italian heritage. The Alfa Romeo team saw some major changes in their leadership group as boss Fred Vasseur left the team to join Ferrari as their Team Principal. McLaren's Andreas Seidl meanwhile joined the Sauber Group as CEO and has been tasked to find a team boss to replace Vasseur. On the drivers’ side, Alfa Romeo will continue with the lineup from the previous season of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.
In the 2022 season, Alfa Romeo managed to finish P6 in the constructors' championship which may seem like a slight let-down after a promising start. The Bottas and Guanyu duo were regularly in the points in the first half of the season but could replicate these performances to finish off the season.
