With the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 underway, the match 12 of the tournament, which was played between Barbados Royals and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons saw some heated moments as well as some excellent fielding efforts. The match, which was played at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet on September 10, however, saw the Trinbago Knight Riders win by four wickets, but several players from both the sides hogged the limelight for several different reasons.

Among many was West Indies international, Alzarri Joseph. The right-arm fast bowler, who is currently plying his trade for the Saint Lucia Kings in CPL 2024, was seen getting into a heated argument with the on-field umpire. Notably, Joseph seemed unhappy with the wide call from umpire during the second innings of the game.

The 27-year-old pacer, who bowled a couple of wide balls during the match was left fuming on the on-field umpire after the final delivery of the 11th over. Joseph who was recalled into the attack to bowl the 11th over, although conceded only two runs but looked unimpressed with the umpire’s decision, leading to his frustration. 

In the videos going viral, Joseph can also be murmuring some harsh words animatedly about the decision after the completion of the over. However, he went wicketless in the match, the 27-year-old conceded 26 runs in his spell of 3.1 overs.

Trinbago Knight Riders beat Saint Lucia Kings by four wickets

Speaking of the match, the visiting side won the toss and elected to bowl first. On the other hand, the hosts, Saint Lucia Kings added 187 runs on the board in the stipulated 20 overs, courtesy an unbeaten 56-run knock from Roston Chase and some crucial contributions from skipper Faf du Plessis (34) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (33). 

In pursuit of the 188-run target, the Kieron Pollard-led side comfortably chased the total in 19.1 overs to win by four wickets. With this win, the Trinbago Knight Riders are now placed third, whereas the Saint Lucia Kings are reeling at the fifth place with two wins and as many losses from four games. 

While the Faf du Plessis-led Saint Lucia Kings will take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet on September 12, the Trinbago Knight Riders will take on Barbados Royals at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on September 13.
