Veteran Indian spinner, Amit Mishra during his recent podcast, gave shocking revelations around several key players and the Indian cricketing system. While he highlighted Virat Kohli’s change in attitude after being named the India captain, he also revealed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) might not continue with KL Rahul as their skipper.
During his detailed conversation which threw light on several different incidents which have taken place in a span of a year, including Virat Kohli’s fight with Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-ul-Haq and KL Rahul-Sanjiv Goenka spat, he also admitted of his age fraud.
In his conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, the 41-year-old admitted that his officially recorded age is inaccurate. "Let me tell you, I have a one-year discrepancy, and my coach helped with that. I didn't even know about it. The coach called my home and asked for one more year for me. It was quite an emotional story. I was surprised and asked, 'How?' He said, 'From today, you are one year younger; now you have two more years.' I agreed," said Mishra.
Amit Mishra reveals chat with Rohit Sharma on his age
The veteran Indian spinner further went on to reveal the conversation which took place between him and Team India captain Rohit Sharma. Speaking on the podcast, he went on to reveal the conversation with Rohit where the latter said, "You made your debut when we were in our nappies. That's when you made your debut. You made your debut when you were 20?" to which Amit Mishra replied: "Yes. 20-21."
Further highlighting the conversation, the veteran revealed that he too had asked Rohit if he was 37 after the conclusion of IPL 2024. "Not diapers, but he said when we were young. I told him, 'I also watched someone play when I was young.' Many people start playing early; it doesn't mean they are now 45 or 50. He laughed and said, 'I'm 37.' I later confirmed and said, 'Are you really 37?' He laughed and didn't say anything," the 41-year-old further revealed.
"If I had questioned that are you 37, what would have happened? But I thought, it's okay, we were joking, and he joked with me. And that's how it is with me, joking around with him. It's been going on for a long time, not just today," Mishra concluded, adding that this is the kind of bond that the two share, both on and off the field.
