Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards pulled a mind-blowing dunk in the clash against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 19, Friday (IST). Edwards scored a self-alley-oop during the third quarter of the game as the Timberwolves defeated the Grizzlies 118-103 and saved his side from an embarrassing defeat against the Ja Morant-less rivals. Edwards was earlier listed as questionable due to knee tendinitis, but the 22-year-old delivered a brilliant performance and got his side on the other side of the finishing line.
Edwards posted a jaw-dropping dunk with two minutes remaining in the third quarter of the game. He was positioned at the top of the key, and he made a switch and found himself against Xavier Tillman Sr. After picking up the ball at the free throw line, Edwards found himself stuck. Still, despite throwing the ball for a jumper, he threw the ball off the glass to himself and executed a perfect self-pass alley-oop dunk.
That was probably the best dunk of my career: Anthony Edwards
It seemed that the young NBA star enjoyed the perfectly timed dunk. After the game, Edwards said, "That was crazy," and called the dunk as the best dunk of his career. He added, "I pretty much did a double between the legs and I was just trying to get to a spot, like an elbow spot, and he kind cut me off. I didn't have nobody to pass to and I pump faked and he jumped, so I was like I might as well try it. I seen somebody do it in the All-Star Game. It did work."
Edwards finished the game with 28 points, five rebounds and five assists. For the Timberwolves, Naz Reid also played a significant role and contributed a total of 20 points to his team’s success. With this, the Timberwolves improved their home record to 17-2.
