After winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore opted to bat first in match 60 of the Indian Premier League. The Faf du Plessis-led side posted 171/5 in their 20 overs, courtesy half-centuries from the bat of skipper and Glenn Maxwell, along with a quick cameo by Anuj Rawat down the order.

However, the hosts Rajasthan Royals did have a rollicking start to their innings as both openers were dismissed at duck, with the scoreboard reading 6/1. However, soon Sanju Samson also was sent packing after scoring four off five deliveries. On the fourth ball of the second over, Wayne Parnell was once again called into the attack and bowled a short of a length ball. Samson attempted to cross the line as he got an edge.
Anuj Rawat, who is keeping the wickets in place of Dinesh Karthik this time ran long to the middle of the pitch to complete a brilliant catch to dismiss the RR skipper.

Talking of the match, RR did not have great outing as half their side was sent back to the pavilion inside the powerplay. While both openers were dismissed for a duck, Samson added four runs with Root adding ten runs and Devdutt Padikkal scoring four-ball four. At the end of the powerplay, the RR scoreboard read 28/5.
