A viral
video making rounds has witnessed a fan kicking Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron
Ramsdale during the Northern Derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the
Premier League 2023 on Sunday.
It all happened
after Aaron celebrated Arsenal’s 2-0 victory in front of the stand behind his
goal at full-time. He was involved in a physical altercation with Spurs’
Brazilian forward Richarlison.
Soon, the security
officials came forward to avoid the exchange, while the goalkeeper was on his
way to pick up his water bottle. However, a Tottenham fan climbed the pitchside
advertising boards and kicked Aaron.

During an
interaction with Sky Sports, Aaron reckoned that he and Spurs fans were involved
in banter throughout the game. He reckoned that many of them were decent enough,
but thinks one of them kicking him was a bit of a sour taste.
“The Spurs
fans gave me some throughout the game,” Aaron told Sky Sports. “I was giving
some back. The people I did give it to greeted it in sportsmanlike terms but
one fan tried to give me a little punch on the back.
“It is a
shame as it is just a game of football at the end of the day. Both sets of
players tried to bring me away but thankfully nothing too drastic happened. It
is a sour taste but I’m sure we will enjoy it when we go back into the dressing
room.”
Meanwhile, the
Spurs were appalled by the behaviour of the fan, and ensured that strict action
will be taken against the fan. They also gave an indication of banning the entry
of the fan from the stadium.
"The club has reviewed its CCTV footage to identify the supporter and will be working with the Met Police, Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale to take the strongest possible action, including an immediate ban from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium."
