With 2024 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 underway, match 12 of the tournament saw some heated on-field altercations. In match 12, which was played between Rangpur Riders and the Durdanto Dhaka, the Riders were put to bat first with Bradon King and former Pakistan captain Babar Azam opening their innings.

However, King departed after adding only 20 runs, Babar Azam despite struggling in the starting overs, went upto notch a half-century before being dismissed by Gunathilaka. However, during his stay in the middle, Azam lost his cool as he was caught hurling abuses to the Dhaka wicketkeeper Irfan Sukkur.

The heated confrontation unfolded with Babar Azam and Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi batting in the middle. With the former Pakistan skipper struggling to score runs, he seemed frustrated, later taking an ugly turn and abusing Irfan Sukkur.
However, the 29-year-old revealed that he wasn’t speaking to the wicketkeeper, but rather talking to himself. Sukkur who was taken aback by Babar’s foul words was later asked to calm down with one of his teammates taking him away and the umpires intervening.
Speaking of the match, Babar Azam’s 62 off 46 deliveries helped the Riders to an above par total of 183 runs. However, the bowlers later expedited Babar’s effort and helped the Durdanto Dhaka to 104, winning the match by 79 runs. With this win, the Riders registered their second win to move to the top half of the points table.
