Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi came to the rescue of his seniors Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan after both failed to answer a question posed by a journalist during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) captains’ conference. Babar and Rizwan are holding the reins of Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans respectively, while Shaheen is handling the captaincy mantle of Lahore Qalandars. Besides these three players, Shadab Khan, and Saud Shakeel also marked their presence at the event as they are also captains of their respective PSL sides.
In the press conference, Babar was asked what’s the reason that Pakistan fails to chase totals of over 200 in T20 International (T20I) cricket. "No doubt, the morale of the entire country is down at the moment, but where are we lacking? Is it the mindset or lack of intent as whenever an opponent posts over 200 on the board, we get perturbed and fail to achieve the target. Babar, can you please answer?” queried the reporter.
Babar didn’t reply and passed the question to Rizwan. The Pakistan ODI captain also looked clueless and stayed silent. However, Shaheen intervened and responded to the mediaperson. The speedster said, "It's our team, it's Pakistan's team. See, you are talking about chasing 200. Honestly, it's not just about the batters, it's also the bowlers' responsibility not to concede 200 runs. If you see, the pitches are good for batting. Even if we conceded 200 or more, we should do our best to chase it down. Similar, it's our job to defend such totals as well. We are a team. We are a family. If the performances have not been good of late, it's our job to get Pakistan cricket back to the top."

Pakistan’s next assignment will be in West Indies
Pakistan’s next challenge will be in the West Indies, where they will be playing three T20 Internationals (T20I) and three One-Day Internationals (ODI) from July 31 to August 12. The Men in Green will be expected to play quality cricket in the Caribbean conditions and apply ice to wounds of their fans who got hurt due to the team’s miserable performance in white-ball cricket recently.
The Men in Green recently returned home after getting whitewashed in New Zealand by the Black Caps in a three-match ODI series. Before the ODI competition, the side registered a humiliating 1-4 loss at the hands of the Kiwi side in a five-match T20I series.
