The Pakistan cricketing superstar, Babar Azam, was spotted pulling off a Virat Kohli-like celebration after scoring a fifty in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 season. With his quality innings, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi helped his side to put up a substantial total of 196/8 for Quetta Gladiators to chase down at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The moment happened in the 12th over of the Peshawar Zalmi innings, when Babar Azam flicked Abrar Ahmed towards the deep midwicket region with a straight bat for a boundary to bring up his fifty. After raising his bat to take the applause of the fans at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Babar Azam proceeded to take his gloves off before kissing the bat pendant on his neck, to perform the Virat Kohli-like celebration, wherein the former Indian captain kissed his wedding ring on a pendant.
Shortly after completing yet another fifty in the PSL, Babar Azam lost his wicket to Akeal Hosein, who trapped him in front of the stumps. The 53-run innings for the Peshawar Zalmi captain lasted 30 balls, which saw him hit nine fours and one sixes.
During his stay at the crease, Babar Azam shared two significant partnerships at the top of the order with Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris to put Peshawar Zalmi in a strong position to post a big total on the board. Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Rovman Powell, who will be playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL later this month, providing the finishing touches to the Peshawar Zalmi, to help them get beyond 190 runs in the first innings.
Quetta Gladiators will need to chase down 197 runs at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, to ensure that Peshawar Zalmi stay behind them in the middle of the PSL points table.
