The game of cricket can sometimes get weird as batsmen are out in all sorts of funny ways which leaves everyone confused. There have been multiple instances of batsmen being out when the ball bounces off the close-in fielders, the wicketkeeper's helmet, and even the nonstriker’s bat. In a hilarious incident, a batsman in the European League was dismissed after he edged one and the ball was stuck in the wicketkeeper’s helmet.
The European League is known for its bizarre incidents and silly mistakes as many unthinkable things happen in the low-level leagues. Recently, the bowler tossed one up on the off-stump of the left-handed batsman and the batsman tried to lift it over cow corner but edged it and the ball stuck in the grille of the keeper’s helmet.
All the parties involved were confused for a second and smiled while weakly appealing and the umpire gave it out. The batsman could not believe his luck as he walked back to the pavilion confused. The video of this bizarre incident is viral on social media, with fans confused whether it was out or not.

However, according to the Law 32 of the rule book, which states the conditions on the ‘caught’ dismissal, a striker may not be caught if a ball lodges in a protective helmet worn by a Fieldsman, in which case the umpire shall call and signal "dead ball". A similar thing is reiterated in Law 23, which states the conditions for a dead ball as it says that it is a dead ball when a ball lodges in a protective helmet worn by a member of the fielding side.
The batsman in this case was unfortunate as the umpires in the European league are subpar and apparently did not know about this rule. However, there have been multiple cases when it has bounced off the helmet which is completely legal.
