Sri Lanka restricted Afghanistan to 144 after Wanindu Hasaranga's brilliant spell. The Sri Lankan all-rounder gave away just 3 runs in the final over and picked 2 wickets to restrict Afghanistan below 150. However, Afghanistan could have gotten 3 more runs on board as the 4th delivery of the final over went for a boundary but the umpire called in a dead ball.

After picking up the wicket of Rashid Khan in the third delivery, Mujeeb ul Haq reverse sweeped the next ball for a boundary but the umpire immediately called it a no-ball as the umpires were not ready.

After a good start from opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Afghanistan failed to capitalise on the start and were restricted to a below par total on a batting pitch. Hasaranga was once again the star for Sri Lanka as he picked 3 wickets while giving away just 13 runs in his 4 overs. Notably, this is a must-win game for both team. A loss here will end the chances of either Sri Lanka or Afghanistan to qualify for the knockout stage.
