English striker Harry Kane received the prestigious European Golden Shoe award in a ceremony in Munich after scoring the most goals in the 2023-24 club football season in Europe. In his first season at Bayern Munich, the 31-year-old found the net 45 times in 47 matches in all competitions, although he didn’t win a trophy at the club.
Notably, Harry Kane became the first English footballer after Kevin Phillips to receive the European Golden Shoe award since 2000. He is also the third Bayern Munich player to achieve this extraordinary feat after Gerd Muller and Robert Lewandowski.
Out of Harry Kane’s 45 goals in the 2023-24 club football season, 36 goals came in the Bundesliga, but despite that, Bayern Munich were unable to win the league for the first-time in more than a decade. The Englishman is yet to win a trophy in his illustrious club football career, which began at Tottenham Hotspur in 2009.
Joining Bayern Munich was the best decision of my life: Harry Kane
After receiving the award in a ceremony at the Allianz Arena, Harry Kane said, “It's a fantastic feeling. I can only thank the club, my teammates. The award is for everyone – without you I wouldn't be standing here."
“Obviously, it was a big step in my career to come to FC Bayern Munich, and it was just, one of the best decisions, I think, I made in my life. I have enjoyed every moment of it so far," he added.
