Along with Moises Henriques’ masterclass to seal the deal for Sydney Sixers, Ben Dwarshuis also showed his batting prowess in the match number two of the 2024-25 Big Bash League against Melbourne Renegades. When the Sixers were just seven runs away from the winning target of 170 runs, Dwarshuis smashed a humongous 108-metre six against Melbourne Renegades skipper Will Sutherland on the first ball of the penultimate over. 

Batting on four runs off three balls before the start of the 18th over, Ben Dwarshuis took charge from the first ball of Will Sutherland’s over, and hit Melbourne Renegades bowler for a huge six as the ball ended up landing into the second tier of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). After that, Dwarshius smashed another boundary in the third ball of the over, to seal the deal for Sydney Sixers with nine balls to spare.

Talking about the match, Moises Henriques turned out to be a hero as Sydney Sixers started their Big Bash League 2024-25 campaign with a win against Melbourne Renegades at the SCG. Batting first, Renegades posted a total of 169/7 in their 20 overs. Tim Seifert top scored with 55(42), hitting six fours and a maximum, while Will Sutherland gave finishing touches with 36*(28) after hitting three boundaries. For Sydney Sixers, Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis scalped two wickets each. 

Chasing the winning total, opener James Vince gave a fiery start to Sydney Sixers with a knock of 40(29) runs with five boundaries. After that, Moises Henriques took charge of the innings, and scored an unbeaten 53 runs off 27 balls after hitting four fours and three sixes. Ben Dwarshuis also gave finishing touches with 14*(6) as Sixers chased the target in 18.3 overs with five wickets in hand.
