Ben McDermott, the Australian top-order batter, smashed a massive six during the fifth and final T20I of the series against India, which went out of M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. On Sunday, December 3, Australia are currently in pursuit of a 161-run target to ensure that they don’t lose the T20I series by a big margin of 1-4.

The moment involving Ben McDermott happened in the fourth over of the Australian innings, when Avesh Khan dug the ball in short after he saw the batter step down the track. Although McDermott wasn’t in the best of position to tackle the rising ball from Avesh, his instincts took over, and he swung his bat hard while looking away from it.

Ben McDermott could only top-edge the short ball from Avesh Khan, but somehow, it kept flying higher and higher in the night sky in Bengaluru before landing outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It not only shook the fans inside the stadium, but also the Indian players, including Avesh Khan, who was at the receiving end of the six, and Yashasvi Jaiswal as well.
As of this writing, Australia are 50/2 after the first powerplay stage with Ben McDermott holding fort with 15 off 9, while he was joined by Aaron Hardie, who is 2 off 5. They need a further 111 runs in 84 balls to end their fruitful tour of India on a high with a win in the fifth and final T20I.
