The Men in Blue are taking on England in the final Test of the five-match series. However, the series already stand in India’s favour, both teams will aim to finish on a high with the World Test Championships (WTC) 2023-25 points up for grabs. However, it was the English side who won the toss and opted to bat first, they could only score 218 runs.
After an early dismissal on Day 1, it was the Indian side who took guard in the middle and took a considerable 255-run lead at Stumps on Day 2 of the fifth Test. After Jaiswal departed early in the inning having scored 57 runs, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched a crucial partnership with their respective centuries.
While it was 12th Test ton for Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill reached his fourth and second in the ongoing series. However, both these batters could not add on to their century as Rohit Sharma was departed shortly afterwards by English skipper Ben Stokes.
Stokes, who returned to bowl after nearly eight months, cleaned bowled Rohit Sharma on the first delivery of his opening over in the ongoing series. Seeing Stokes shatter the stumps, Rohit Sharma looked absolutely stunned as he looked back to check on his dismissal.
