The opening game is going from bad to worse for the Gujarat Giants as their captain Beth Mooney was carried out of the ground after being injured in the first over against the Mumbai Indians. The Giants had a disappointing bowling effort in the first innings of the game as they conceded 207 runs with Harmanpreet Kaur smashing 65 in 30 balls.
Then in the second innings, Mooney got on strike on the second ball of the over. After fending away two balls, she hit one towards cover-point before sending her partner back. As she got the crease, Beth Mooney seemed to be in pain. Moments later, the team physio came on the field, the Aussie star was carried off the field.
Addressing this injury, there hasn't been any official statement from the Gujarat Giants but their social media account shared a tweet acknowledging the injury. The post said, "Our skipper goes off the field injured."

Talking about the Mumbai Indians innings, their captain Harmanpreet Kaur smashed a brilliant knock of 65 runs in just 30 balls which included 14 fours. Along with Kaur, West Indian all-rounder Hayley Mathews and Amelia Kerr of New Zealand also scored crucial runs.
Addressing this batting display, Mathews spoke about how the team were able to exceed their goal of scoring somewhere between 160 and 180. She said, "It was a really good wicket, the ball is coming on well and you can play some good cricket shots. It was one of those days when everything came out well."
"We wanted to get above 160-180, so happy with the score, time for the bowlers to go out there and do the job. Not really (when asked if there was any dew), we have some good plans as a spinner, need to be accurate and keep the run rate going up."
