Real Madrid announced the return of Brahim Diaz from his three-season loan at AC Milan in Italy. Diaz impressed in the 2022-23 season picking up six goals and seven assists in 33 games in the Serie A playing in the midfield. The Spaniard won the Serie A in the 2021-22 season and reached the Champions League semifinals this season while playing in Milan.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder successfully completed his medical in Madrid on Tuesday and will join the squad for the pre-season. Brahim joined Real Madrid in January 2019 for a transfer fee of £15.5 million (€17 million) from Manchester City for a six-year contract.
Real Madrid loaned out Diaz to AC Milan on September 4, 2020, and the midfielder returned to the Spanish capital on Saturday, June 10. On Thursday, June 13, Real Madrid took to their official Twitter handle and shared a video of the Spanish midfielder's medical with the hashtag 'Brahim is back'.

Diaz will get Rodrigo's number 21 as his jersey number after the forward got the number 11 from Vinicius Junior. The number 7 shirt was most recently worn by Eden Hazard, who has now left the club following the mutual termination of his contract and his number will be worn by Vinicius Junior. Diaz wore the No 21 shirt at Real Madrid in 2019 and 2020 and will regain the number in the next season.

In his time in Spain, Diaz did not get the games he expected after joining from Manchester City in January 2019. In 21 games played for Madrid, he contributed with two goals and three assists in all competitions for Los Blancos. He was presented to the Bernabeu crowd on Tuesday, June 13, and will add to Real Madrid’s midfield talent already consisting of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and another new signing in Jude Bellingham.
