On Sunday, July 14, Carlos Alcaraz defended his Wimbledon Championship title as he went on to beat 24-time Grand Slam winner, Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-6 (7-6) at the Centre Court of the All England Club. With this win, he became the first Spaniard to successfully defend his Wimbledon crown, surpassing the likes of Rafael Nadal.
Moreover, at the age of 21, he has now completed a quartet of Grand Slam wins. With his win, he became the sixth man in the Open Era to win back-to-back Roland Garros and Wimbledon titles. After being crowned the Gentleman’s Singles champion, Carlos Alcaraz later lightened the Champions Ball, alongside the Ladies Singles champion Barbora Krejcikova. The two singles winners during the Wimbledon 2024 Champions’ Ball, flaunted their dance moves as danced to the tunes of Dua Lipa at the Ball in London, video of which is going viral.

“It’s a huge honour for me to be part of those players who have achieved the Roland Garros - Wimbledon (double) in the same year,” Alcaraz said during his post-match on-court interview. “I’m really glad to be at the same table as those huge champions… I don’t consider myself a champion yet, not as them, but I try to keep going, building my path, my journey. It’s a huge honour for me,” he further added.
Czech tennis player, Barbora Krejcikova, beat Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the women’s singles final on Saturday, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. With this, she finally ended her three-year wait after her Roland Garros triumph in 2021.

The 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz had a rather long day on Sunday, July 14. After beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets at the Centre Court, he went up to live the moment as Spain defeated England 2-1 to lift their record fourth European Championship title.
Hours after his victory, he and the entire of Spain celebrated their men’s team’s win.
