The ninth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is underway in the neighbouring country, Pakistan. In match seven of the T20 tournament, Multan Sultans locked horns with Lahore Qalandars at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Wednesday, February 21.
While the match saw defending champions, Shaheen Shah Afridi-led side opt to bat first and post 166 runs on the board, the Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans sealed a comfortable win by five wickets to go to the top of the table. But the first innings saw a bizarre incident with West Indies international breaking his bat while playing Shahnawaz Dahani.
The incident unfolded in the penultimate over of the Lahore inning. Carlos Brathwaite who was playing Shahnawaz Dahani in the 20th over, attempted to hit the ball hard, striking it towards mid-on. While he took a single and on reaching the non-striker’s end, he attempted to practice the shot which left everyone in surprise with his bat broken into two pieces.
The 35-year-old was quick to signal towards the dressing room for a new bat before finishing off the inning, having scored 15 runs off eight balls.
