The former NBA star Charles Barkley spoke about how Zion Williamson is the wildcard who would decide how the NBA season turns out for the New Orleans Pelicans. The 60-year-old stated that while the Pelicans’ All-Stars duo of Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum are a handful, Zion Williamson has to get himself in better shape to match up with them.
The comments from Charles Barkley came after the New Orleans Pelicans registered an impressive 127-117 against the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center in the NBA In-Season Tournament quarter-final. The Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram with 30 points was the top-scorer of the franchise, but Zion Williamson managed to get only 10 points on the night.
During Inside the NBA show on TNT, Charles Barkley talked about the New Orleans Pelicans and how their NBA fortunes depend on Zion Williamson. He said, “Zion is the wildcard. They got depth, they got 2 All-stars named Ingram and McCollum. Zion is the wildcard. I have said before, this team is scary on paper, but it's all gonna come down to Zion. He has got to get himself in better shape because McCollum and Ingram, man, they are a handful.”
