Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle who was at the Toronto Blue Jays’ inaugural Cricket Day smashed some big shots. The Jamaican star was seen hitting home six runs, giving the fans a chance to reminisce about the good old days when Gayle would hit long shots for his side in cricket. Gayle was at Rogers Centre on Saturday, June 24, as Toronto Blue Jays hosted the Oakland Athletics, where he threw the ceremonial opening pitch at the game.

The 43-year-old all-rounder earlier posted a video informing his fans about the same, where he said that as his cricketing days are approaching their end, he wants to use the platform to talk about his beloved sport, cricket. One of the most destructive batters of all time, Gayle was the special guest at the game and had a batting session prior to the big day.

In a video posted on Instagram by Toronto Blue Jays, Gayle said, “I’m town, Toronto just comes alive. So, tomorrow is Blue Jays Cricket Day and Universe Boss will be doing the first pitch. You don’t want to miss that one. It’s going to be epic; 95 miles per hour pitch from the Universe Boss. You don’t wanna miss it.”

Gayle, the self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ is the most capped West Indies player in international cricket. Known as one of the most disastrous batters in the world, Gayle made his debut for West Indies as a 20-year-old in the year 2000. He then went on to captain the national side, and though he didn’t start as an opening batsman, he was soon promoted to one.
Not only this, but Gayle also hit the most runs, most hundreds, and fastest hundred, along with most fours and sixes in the shortest format of cricket. Gayle featured in 103 Tests, 301 ODIs, and 79 T20Is for his nation’s side, while he played 142 games in the famous Indian Premier League.
