Hobart Hurricanes player Chris Jordan accidentally hit the umpire with the ball in the BBL clash against Sydney Sixers. Notably, Hurricanes clashed against Sixers in the 18th match of the Big Bash League 2024-25 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. During the match, spectators and players witnessed a bizarre moment unfolding, as Jordan’s shot accidentally hit the umpire. Earlier, Sydney Sixers’ skipper Moises Henriques won the toss and invited the rivals to put the score on the board first. 

During the 19th over of the Hurricanes’ innings when Sydney Sixers’ bowler Ben Dwarshuis delivered a full and straight delivery to Jordan. The players hit the ball towards the bowler and the Sixers’ bowler attempted to catch it. However, while he was unable to complete the catch, the ball hit the back of the umpire. He turned around while attempting to avoid the ball, and since the ball’s pace was reduced due to Dwarshuis’ interruption, the umpire remained unharmed. 

Chris Jordan’s valuable contribution helps Hobart Hurricanes dominate match

While Jordan’s accidental hit became the highlight of the match, his valuable contribution pushed the side to dominate the game, and further record a 50-run win over their counterparts. Notably, during the game, while batting in the lower order, Jordan pulled a knock of 16* runs off 11 balls, including a six. With the help of his innings, his side was able to post a total of 161 runs with the loss of six wickets. 

Later, in the second innings, he came up with a match-defining bowling performance and claimed three crucial wickets for the Hurricanes. He dismissed James Vince (11 off 10), Jordan Silk (20 off 20) and Jackson Bird (3 off 8), to restrict the Sixers at 111 in 19.3 overs.
