On Saturday, August 17, Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr was left devasted after comprehensively losing the Saudi Super Cup final against Al Hilal. Al Nassr’s wait for a title extended with Al Hilal handing them a 4-1 defeat in the summit clash on Saturday night. While it was not Al Nassr’s defeat, Cristiano Ronaldo’s quest for his first domestic trophy in Saudi Arabia was also prolonged with this.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who found the back of the net just before the break in the season opener between the Saudi Pro league champion, Al Hilal and the runners-up Al Nassr, was left devasted with this defeat and was seen gesturing towards his teammates with “why sleeping”. The moment took place when Al Hilal scored four goals within a span of 17 minutes with Aleksandar Mitrovic contributing with two goals.

Seeing this, the Portuguese international could not hide his disappointment as he brought up several gestures, including the “why sleeping” one. The 39-year-old was even seen throwing his arms up in frustration before bringing up another gesture.

Speaking of the match, Al Nassr took a lead in the final, thanks to a goal from Ronaldo just moments before the half-time. But Al Hilal completed a comeback by scoring four goals in 17 minutes to seal a win. The second half of the game completely belonged to Al Hilal as Sergej Milinkovic-Savc struck first. Eight minutes later, Mitrovic found the back of the net and soon doubled his tally after receiving a pinpoint pass from Malcolm. The final goal came in the 72nd minute as Malcolm slotted the back of the goal after an enforced error from Bento.

"We showed how good we are in the second half. We had some problems in the first half and then changed in the second. We stayed calm and it feels good to get a trophy at the start of the season," Mitrovic said. The Al Hilal will next begin their title defense against Al-Okhdood, next Saturday whereas, Al Nassr will face Al-Raed on Thursday night.
