Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Daryl Mitchell accidentally broke a fan’s phone before the game against Punjab Kings. The reigning champions clashed against the Punjab-based franchise on May 5, Sunday, at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala. The match saw the five-time winners clinching a 28-run victory over their counterparts. Before the game, the New Zealand international, accidentally hit a fan and ended up breaking his phone.
Before the beginning of the game, Mitchell was practising hitting shots near the boundary line. During the same, he pulled off a shot that ended up hitting a fan cheering for him in the stands and broke his phone. The 32-year-old immediately asked for the fan’s well-being and later gifted him his gloves as a gesture of apology. The video since uploaded went viral on social media, and the Kiwi cricketer was praised for his gesture.

CSK cricketer Daryl Mitchell unleashed his inner dancer during the game against Punjab. During the match, Ravindra Jadeja got the better of Ashutosh Sharma in the 13th over. He was caught by Simarjeet Singh at short third man. As soon as Singh completed the catch, Mitchell celebrated the wicket with hilarious dance moves.
The video went viral on social media and was shared several times. Talking about their IPL 2024, CSK have had a curvy campaign. Out of 11 matches they have played thus far, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side emerged victorious in six, while losing five matches. With 12 points in their account, they are currently seated in the third spot of the standings. In their next match, CSK will clash against Gujarat Titans on May 10, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
