South African batter David Miller chose the loss of the 2024 T20 World Cup final against India when was asked about his biggest heartbreak in cricket. Set to play for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, Miller was featured in a video along with influencer Shubham Gaur which was posted on the franchise's official social media handle. In a video, Shubham asked Miller to choose from multiple knockout losses he faced in the IPL and the ICC events throughout the years.
At the start of the video, Shubham Gaur asked “David, which has been the biggest heartbreak for you? You have to pick one.” Firstly, David Miller was given the option between IPL 2023 final loss and IPL 2014 final loss. Out of these, Miller chose IPL 2023 final loss as a bigger heartbreak. After that, the Proteas batter went on to choose South Africa’s group stage exit from the 2021 T20 World Cup. At last, he was given the choice between the 2021 T20 World Cup group exit and the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Miller went ahead with the 2024 final loss and refused to change it even when he got options like the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-final loss against Australia and the 2025 Champions Trophy semi-final loss against New Zealand.

South Africa fell short of their first-ever World Cup after losing 2024 T20 World Cup final vs India
Talking about the 2024 T20 World Cup, it was the first time that South Africa reached the final of any World Cup event. However, their dream of winning the world cup trophy was ruined as India defeated them by seven runs in a close final in Barbados on June 29.
One of the biggest moments of the match was Suryakumar Yadav’s incredible at the boundary line to dismiss David Miller when South Africa needed 16 runs to win in the last over. South Africa also reached the semi-final of the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. However they ended up losing on both occasions. Notably, Miller scored a century in both the semi-finals.
