Delhi Capitals (DC) were seen acknowledging their team effort after clinching a one-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In their opening game in Visakhapatnam, Delhi saw themselves in a terrible situation after losing three quick wickets at a score of seven while chasing a mammoth target of 210. However, Ashutosh Sharma showcased his batting mettle and played an unbeaten 66 off 31 to help the Capitals pull off the target in 19.3 overs. The 26-year-old’s amazing batting display also got him the player of the match (POTM) award at the end of the contest.

Following the scintillating success, DC head coach Hemang Badani showered praise on his team for superb performance in their maiden IPL 2025 game. He highlighted his side’s magnificent comeback in the match after losing half of the side at a score of 65 while chasing the vast target. “This has never been done after being 7/3 and 65/5 in the history of the IPL, 200 has never been chased. So pick up boys! Very well done,” said Badani while addressing his side in the dressing room.

Badani appreciates Ashutosh for his unprecedented innings

Badani hailed Ashutosh for producing extraordinary innings from his bat. He also revealed Ashutosh displayed pluck and participated in the match despite suffering a cut finger. "I have to mention about this lad. He's had a cut finger. There was a chance he could have missed out on the game. I had a chat with him, asking him two days prior to the game when he had that cut. 'How are you feeling? Will you play?” said Badani.

Badani also added Ashutosh’s reply saying, "He said quite clearly, 'I am playing the game. I want to be in the middle.' There's one thing that you speak of being in the middle, wanting to and the desire to play but to go in there, to bat the way you batted. 15 off 15 at one stage, but then he goes on to get 66 off 31. Finishing off the game in style."
