The second Test of the three-match Test series between Australia and South Africa started on Monday (December 26) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The hosts won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first. However, on the back of a fifer from Cameron Green, the Aussies bundled out the visitors at the score of 189.
During the Day 1 of the second Test, South African skipper Dean Elgar and Australian spinner Nathan Lyon got involved in a funny on-field banter. In the thirteenth over of the South Africa innings, Elgar and Lyon had a laughing-sledging moment. Elgar, who was on strike, defended a back-of-a-length delivery from Scot Boland but the ball rolled onto the stumps.
The South African captain had his share of luck as the bails did not dislodge . The batter also looked in disbelief as Nathan Lyon who was placed at point when Boland bowled, quickly walked to Elgar and sledged, stating, “I reckon that’s your Santa present…That’s Santa coming late I reckon.”
The 35-year-old South Africa was quick to respond to Lyon’s sledging as he said that Santa "has been a good boy.”
