Day one of the third Ashes Test ended with a slight advantage for Australia. The Aussies were bowled out after scoring 263 runs and held England to 68/3. The match also produced a viral moment when Alex Carey seemed to grab the ball with his mouth. Former England captain Eoin Morgan reacted with a tongue-in-cheek comment, calling the situation a smooch and asking Carey to “behave”.

The incident occurred during the fourth over when Ben Duckett hit the ball off his outside edge and towards Carey and David Warner, who was standing at the first slip. The wicketkeeper managed a screamer of a catch by leaping up in the air. In an attempt to hold on to the ball as he fell, Carey used his mouth to make sure it didn’t slip out of his gloves.

The reaction quickly made waves on Twitter, with fans of cricket appreciating the former England skipper’s quick sense of humour and chiming in with their own jokes about the amusing catch.

Fans of English cricket will be hoping for a better showing by the national team in the third Ashes Test. Australia won the first two with relative ease, but have been bowled out with just 263 runs in 60.4 overs in this game. England had a cruising start with Zak Crawley, but Australian captain Pat Cummins’s performance managed to make the road to a victory less clear for the Englishmen.

The skipper bowled out Ben Duckett and Harry Brook in the final session, giving Australia some much needed early wickets in their defence of a modest run total. Going into day 2 England trail by 195 runs, with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow not out at their Yorkshire home ground.
