Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi got a lifetime moment to remember before his team’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens on April 8. The 25-year-old got to meet West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, who the uncapped India spinner considers his idol. Lucknow won their second game of the season after beating Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 4. In LSG’s victory, Digvesh played a vital role with the ball. Bowling a four-over spell, he chipped in with his frugal spell of 1/21 and got the player of the match (POTM) award. After the game, when Rathi received the award, he revealed that he took inspiration from Sunil Narine to bowl exceptionally in the match.

A couple of days after the match-winning performance, Rathi got to meet his idol Narine at the Eden Gardens. In a video uploaded on KKR’s X handle, the young spinner can be seen getting introduced to Narine by Rishabh Pant. In the clip, LSG’s stylish batter Nicholas Pooran is also present and he asks Digvesh he (Narine) doesn’t celebrate, why do you celebrate? Replying to Pooran’s query, Digvesh gives a humorous reply saying, “Because I am from Delhi.”

LSG will expect their captain Rishabh Pant to end his dry run

LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who has been terrible with his bat this season, will have to show spunk against KKR. Eyes will be set on the southpaw again as he is getting targeted by his critics consistently for his horrendous batting numbers. In four matches of the tournament, Pant has piled up only 19 runs at an extremely poor average of 4.75.

Lucknow will have to stay cautious of KKR, who outplayed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to bag a humongous 80-run win on April 3. On Kolkata’s turning track, Digvesh and Ravi Bishnoi will be crucial for Lucknow, who will chase their third win in the competition.
