In the Monday Night RAW main event, Edge took on his Judgment Day’s Damian Priest. This was one of Edge’s first RAW matches in ages which made complete sense as his friends and family were in attendance in his hometown of Toronto, Canada. But after the fight, Edge had an emotional message for the fans as he announced he was planning to retire.

During the match, the Scotiabank Arena gave the Rated R Superstar a standing ovation as he entered and showered boo’s over Damian Priest. Edge also didn’t leave any stone unturned as he was all decked up in red and white, as a tribute to the Canadian flag and the crowd was firmly behind him.

Edge dominated early in the match and took it to Priest, making him angry. He eventually caught up to Edge and tossed him to the outside. Priest then brought out the Razor’s Edge through the announce table that left Edge’s body lying in the debris of the table.

The Superstar continued to dominate the hometown hero for a few minutes until referee Charles Robinson was accidentally knocked out of the ring. With no referee, Priest pulled out a chair to punish Edge. But the Rated-R Superstar recovered and smashed Priest with the chair before nailing him with the classic Canadian Destroyer and finished the bout with a Spear.

As the bell rang, Edge announced that after one year he will be back in Canada to hand up his boots and retire. He said, “So next August, I plan on seeing each and every one of you, and in a perfect world, we’ll all say goodbye to each other that night. Hey, that’s okay, man. This is the place for me to do it. I mean this when I say it — I love all of you. In case you missed it, I love being Canadian.”
