Royal Challengers Bangalore star Ellyse Perry shocked the world as she broke the window of the WPL 2024 show car 'Tata Punch EV' in the match against UP Warriorz. Playing at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, the Royal Challengers got off to a blistering start with Sabbhineni Meghana and Smriti Mandhana putting up 51 runs in 5.3 overs.
After Meghnana's reaction, Mandhana continued her stellar form and built another crucial stand with number Ellyse Perry. With the Indian southpaw hitting all around the park, the Aussie all-rounder took her time to get going. But soon, Perry also picked up the pace to find regular boundaries.
Soon Smriti Mandhana departed after an impressive 80 in 50 balls with 10 fours and three sixes, the Australian World Cup winner took charge. After smashing Rajeshwari Gaekwad for two sixes, Perry faced off against Deepti Sharma and found a boundary on the third ball of the 19th over. Then on the fifth delivery of the over, Ellyse Perry smashed the ball over deep mid-wicket which crashed into the Tata Punch EV window and shattered it.
More than the orange cap, happy that we got 190+: Mandhana
Talking about her performance with the bat, Smriti Mandhana said, " When I came into the game today, I was really focused. The last two losses hurt us. We wanted to express ourselves. More than the orange cap, happy that we got 190+, we have to bowl well. The wicket was holding a bit, we backed ourselves to go for our shots."
"That was the chat in the dressing room. It (opening with Sabbhineni Meghana) was a team decision, nothing to do with Sophie (Devine). We have a lot of confidence and faith in her. It'll be a great opportunity for her in the middle order," she continued.
