Paris Saint Germain star Lionel Messi’s statue is set to be installed in the CONMEBOL museum alongside greats like Pele and Maradona. After winning the COPA America, and the FIFA World Cup, Messi cemented his place in the pantheon of South American footballing greats.
Reacting to this gesture the 35-year-old was overwhelmed and even touched the installation in shock. He took the mic and described this moment as a point of fulfilment in his career.
He said, “I’m fulfilled with this, it was what I was missing. Thank God I got everything in football.” The former Barcelona forward further expressed grattitude towards the CONMEBOL for this heartwarming gesture. He also thanked the Argentine fans for their constant support in these moments which pushed the team to achieve success.
“I keep these cups in the museum at home. Thanks to Conmebol for this tribute to us and to Sole for the theme, we listen to it a lot and it reminds me of when she sang it to Diego. We are living very beautiful moments, we were lucky to return to Argentina after the World Cup and we received many expressions of affection. It was different, that’s how the people of Argentina show it,” Messi said.

The announcement was made at an event called La Noche De Las Estrellas in Luque, Paraguay. The ceremony celebrated the Argentina Men’s team for their World Cup win in Qatar and other triumphs like the Finalissima in 2022.
Along with Lionel Messi, his teammates from the triumphant Argentina team were also presented with mementoes for their contribution. While head coach Lionel Scaloni and his staff were given replicas of the CONMEBOL Copa América, the Finalissima trophy and the World Cup as recognition for their work with the national team.
