On Saturday, February 1, the third day’s play of the Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways, there were multiple incidents of fans jumping over the fence to meet Virat Kohli at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After a few fans were able to make their way onto the field in Delhi, one fan wasn’t quite as lucky as them because of a security personnel dragging him down from climbing the fence while beating him up, and the incident was caught on camera.
The return of Virat Kohli to Ranji Trophy in Delhi colours after 12 years led to a lot of his supporters making their way to the Arun Jaitley Stadium over the past three days, to watch him in-person. While the DDCA claimed to have tight security to safeguard Virat Kohli and the other players from both the teams, the over-enthusiastic fans were still able to find a way to breach the security staff, to meet the Indian cricket superstar on the field, and touch his feet as a mark of respect.
