Pakistan and Afghanistan played  an absolute thriller at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. After posting a below-par total of 129/6, Afghanistan bowlers put on a show as they dismissed half of Pakistan batters with five overs left. However, Pakistan had held up Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali to finish things off. Meanwhile, Afghanistan were in no mood to let go of the match as they kept striking.

While Fazalhaq Farooqi got the wickets of Mohammad Nawaz and Khushdil Shah, Fareed Ahmad got the best of Asif Ali. The left-arm quick deceived Ali with his pace and got him caught at short fine leg. With such a big wicket coming his way at such a big moment, Fareed Ahmad could not control his emotions as he gave a fierce send-off to the batter.

Ahmad came close to Ali who was walking back disappointed and celebrated in his face. Asif Ali lost his cool at this as he pushed Ahmad. The Pakistan batter also indicated that he would hit the bowler with his bat. The two players also exchanged a few words. However, on-field umpires and Afghanistan players intervened and separated the players.

Pakistan through to final

While Afghanistan had their moments in the game and almost won it after the wicket of Asif Ali, Pakistan sealed the low-scoring thriller and secured a spot in the Asia Cup 2022 Final. Naseem Shah was the man of the moment for Pakistan as the pacer hit consecutive sixes on the first two deliveries of the 20th over to win it for his team.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan and India were eliminated from the tournament.
