Brazilian defender Dani Alves returned to Barcelona once again on Sunday to play the Joan Gamper Trophy with his new club Pumas. Alves’ return gave the Blaugrana a chance to give a proper send-off to the legend ahead of kick-off at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Alves received a warm welcome from all of his former teammates before being presented with a commemorative silver plate, which was presented to the player by President Joan Laporta. Alves was given a framed Barca jersey which had the number - 431 on the back which is the same number of appearances he made for the club. The full-back then received a lot of love and affection from the supporters inside the stadium.

When Dani Alves left the Catalans for the second time, he wasn’t completely happy with the way he was treated in the club. He said, "I didn’t leave sad. I left happy to have returned to Barcelona. I dreamed for five years wanting to live this second moment. The only thing I didn’t like was how my departure was handled,” he continued.

"Since I arrived, I made it very clear that I wasn’t any more a 20-year-old guy and that I wanted things to be done head-on, without hiding things. But this club has sinned in recent years. Barcelona don’t care about the people who made history for the club.”

"As a cule, I would like Barcelona to do things differently. I’m not talking about myself because my situation was another scenario. I am eternally grateful to Xavi and the president for bringing me back,” he further added.
