Vinicius Jr, the Real Madrid superstar, who was subject to racial abuse from the Valencia fans at the Mestalla Stadium on May 21, has received support from his former club in Brazil. The fans of Flamengo at the Maracana Stadium, chanted the name of Vinicius in his fight against racism during a match in Brasileiro on May 27, who were also joined in by the Cruzeiro fans. The enthralling contest between both sides ended in a 1-1 draw.

In 2017, the professional football career for Vinicius Jr began as a Flamengo player. During his one-year stint with the club, he took part in 69 matches, including 29 starts, while scoring 14 goals and providing four assists as well. As an 18-year-old, Vini was transferred to Real Madrid for £38.7 million.

Coming back to the special moment which occurred at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night, the official Twitter account of Flamengo posted a tweet video about it with a caption in Portuguese, which read (in English), "Maraca is yours, @vinijr. The world is Yours. No backtracking. Count on us. #TodosComViniJr"

While the fans extended their support to the 22-year-old Vinicius by showing "All with Vinicius Jr" message in the stands as the Real Madrid forward reshared the picture and appreciated Flamengo's effort to fight against racism. Vinicius wrote, "Thank you for everything!!! I was born FLAMENGO and I will always love you!!! 🖤❤️✊🏿"

Meanwhile, ever since the incident last week, Vinicius Jr hasn’t played a game for Real Madrid. According to the manager Carlo Ancelotti, he didn’t travel with the team to play against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium due to a knee injury, the contest was won by Galacticos with a 2-1 margin, thanks to two goals from Rodrygo. The Real Madrid boss further stated that his knee injury also kept him out from playing in the midweek against Rayo Vallecano.
