Dhoni was recently named as Jharkhand's brand ambassador for the polls, with the chief electoral officer noting that the commission obtained permission from MSD to use his photo in the assembly elections. Dhoni was assigned to work on increasing voter awareness as part of the SWEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) program. K Ravi Kumar, chief electoral officer said, "Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given his consent to the Election Commission to use his photo. We are in touch with him for other details. Jharkhand High Court orders MS Dhoni to appear in court

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand High Court has ordered the former Indian skipper to appear in court and place his stand on a case filed by his former business associates Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das. Diwakar and Das are directors of Aarka Sports and Management Ltd, and they signed an arrangement with the former India captain to create cricket academies in his name.

However, on January 5, Dhoni filed a criminal case against them in Ranchi, alleging that they had defrauded him. He said that the duo proceeded to open cricket academies in his name even after he terminated their permission in 2021. The cricketer in his complained claimed he was scammed of ₹15 crore.  Diwakar and Das petitioned the high court, challenging the  cognisance  issued against them by a judicial magistrate in Ranchi. The high court has now asked the veteran cricketer to appear at the court and put before his stand on the matter.
