After Afghanistan posted 291/5 in their 50 overs, courtesy an unbeaten 129-run knock from Ibrahim Zadran and a cameo by Rashid Khan down the order. With this brilliant batting from the Afghan side, the Asian side posted their highest score in World Cups.

However, things took an uncertain turn in the second inning as Naveen-ul-Haq got the first breakthrough in the second over of the inning. While he dismissed Travis Head at a duck, the fifth over saw things heat. David Warner (15) and Mitchell Marsh (3) who were at the crease in the fifth over were seen engaging in a verbal exchange with Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai.
